Trying this one on for size

July 21st, 2008 | 16 Comments

I’ve been thinking about switching themes for months now, but this weekend I’ve been toying with the one you see here. I can already see some things that I’m going to want to tweak, but if you have any suggestions as well, let me know. Also notice that I am trying out a “wall” widget à la Facebook on the rightmost sidebar right beneath the “Recent comments” widget; if you wouldn’t mind, leave any comments you have on the theme there so I can see how it works.

Edit: I removed the wall widget. One, I can’t see people using it, and two, I didn’t like the comments showing up in my “Recent Comments” widget.

    Hi Stephen,
At first when I saw change in theme, I thought maybe you were going to start posting on NASCAR, knitting, or Nine Inch Nails. Whew. Good you just meant how your site looks & not its content.

Well, it looks good to me … I like the indented “recent comments”. Wonder if you can get that for blogger?

    Steve,

Thanks for checking it out. The widget I got is from FreePress, which I think specializes in WordPress (hence the name). There may well be a similar Blogger widget, however.

A slightly larger font size for the comments would be appreciated by us old guys!

Cliff, that is my biggest complaint. I have to figure out how to interpret and recode the CSS, but it’s top priority. Thanks for weighing in.

I’ve reconfigured the comments. Hopefully it won’t do that annoying hang-up thingy this way.

Oh, and has anyone tried the shoutout box? ‘Cause nothing’s loading but mine.

Hey, Steve! First off, thank you so much for the great comment on my blog. It might be the best one I’ve ever received.

I like the new theme a lot. It’s probably difficult to tell from my own blog theme, but I have always been partial to white. It’s just so clean and professional!

Regarding the shoutouts, I was able to post something and it seems to have took. However, fyi, after leaving a reply I was taken to a plain white page that only displayed the shoutout comments. I had to click the BACK button to get back to your page.
