My MacBook laptop’s hard drive crashed last week and I’ve been waiting to get it repaired; apparently you aren’t supposed to move them when they’re storing data to the hard drive…and I didn’t know it…*ahem*
Anyway, I lost lots of precious data (including all the family videos recorded this year!!!), but if I can forget that, I think it’ll be all right. Oh, and because I have AppleCare (an extended warranty), they replaced the hard drive for free and paid for shipping both ways. That would have been good enough, but additionally they replaced the whole keyboard/trackpad part of the computer, which had undergone some unfortunate wear and tear, free of charge. I sent it in Tuesday and it was delivered back in good-as-new condition on Thursday before noon. That’s customer service.
It feels like a new computer - which is good, I suppose, since I had to start from scratch loading all my stuff back onto it.

One time when one of my MacBook Pros “blinked”, it left my house in Oregon on a Monday morning, was repaired in Texas, and was back to my house Tuesday afternoon. I was amazed!
Glad to hear you and your Mac are okay. Now, repeat with me the mantra … “Backup, backup, backup, backup, backup ….”

That’s my new favorite word. The sad part is, I was already developing a consciousness for the need for “backup” by putting all our pictures - but not our videos - on both the PC and the MacBook (”In case the PC crashes”) and backing up my blog’s posts and database fastidiously and saving them on my MacBook. Sheesh.

I’m glad your Applecare experience was good.
Now if I can get my Macbook’s screen repaired I’ll be good to go (for those who don’t know, it was sitting beneath a book shelf and a speaker fell from the shelf onto my Macbook and cracked the screen–AppleCare doesn’t cover that.).
